Venezuela - weather in October

October is an autumn month in the Northern Hemisphere, however in Venezuela, a country located just north of the Equator, it is still a hot and rainy month almost everywhere.
Temperatures are high especially in the extreme north-west, the driest area (see Maracaibo, Coro and the Paraguaná peninsula), where the daily average is around 30 °C (86 °F). Furthermore, the temperatures slightly increase in the central-northern inland areas (see San Fernando de Apure, Ciudad Bolívar), where we are in the second warmest period after spring. On the hottest days, the temperature can reach 40 °C (104 °F).
The rains are frequent in a large part of the territory, and are often even abundant, however, in the center-south they decrease compared to the previous months, both in the area occupied by the forest, in the macro-region called Venezuelan Guayana, and in the area occupied by the savannah, the llanos.
In the driest areas (see Coro, the Caribbean islands), on the other hand, the rainiest period of the year begins in October, even though the rains are not particularly abundant. On the arid Paraguaná peninsula, October is the wettest month of the year.
In the Caribbean Sea we are in the season of hurricanes, which can affect the extreme north of Venezuela, even though more rarely than in the central-northern Caribbean. We are at the end of the period in which they are most likely, which goes from August to October.

The sea is warm enough for swimming.
