June is the first month of summer in the Northern Hemisphere, which in Venezuela, a country located just north of the Equator, is the
rainy season.
The
temperatures are high, however, compared to the previous months they decrease a little, except in the far north (see Coro and the Caribbean islands), where the climate is arid and it rarely rains even in this period. On the other hand, the humidity increases the sensation of heat.
The
rains are frequent and abundant both in the area occupied by the forest, in the macro-region called Venezuelan Guayana, and in the area occupied by the savannah, the llanos.
On the other hand, on the northern coast (see Barcelona, Maiquetía), the rains are moderate, but there are also sheltered areas (see Cumaná), where the rains are not very frequent. In the driest areas (see Coro, the Paraguaná peninsula and the Caribbean islands), the rains are rare.
However, on average, June is the wettest and least sunny month of the year in Venezuela, followed by July.
In this month, the
hurricane season begins in the Caribbean Sea, which can affect the extreme north of Venezuela, although more rarely than in the central-northern Caribbean, moreover, the phenomenon is more likely between August and October.
The
sea is warm enough for swimming.
