April in Ecuador is a
hot, muggy and rainy month in the northern part of the coast (see Valdez, Esmeraldas, Atacames), in inland areas, especially in the north, and in the Amazon forest (see Nuevo Rocafuerte). The rains are particularly abundant in the foothills of the Andes (see Puyo).
On the north coast, this is also the hottest month of the year. Instead, in the central-southern part of the coast (see Manta, Salinas, Playas), the rains begin to decrease, under the influence of the cool Humboldt current. However, due to this current, the sky is often cloudy.
In the
Andes, where the temperature decreases with altitude, we are in the rainiest period, especially in the northern part (see Quito), where this is the rainiest month of the year.
The
sea is warm enough to swim in anywhere, however, in the south the water temperature begins to decrease compared to the previous months, which were those in which the sea is warmest.
