Bolivia - weather in September

Flag - Bolivia

Map - Bolivia

September in Bolivia is a spring month. Since the country is located north of the Tropic of Capricorn, the sun passes overhead at noon during the month. The result is that the time of year with the hottest days begins, before the rains start to bring the temperature down a bit by November.
In the lowland northern areas, occupied by the forest, where it is hot all year round (see Cobija, Riberalta), the average daily temperatures are around 26/27 °C (79/81 °F). Sometimes, a bit of cool air can arrive, and at night the temperature can drop to 15 °C (59 °F) or a little below. Unlike in the center-south, the rains become a little more frequent compared to the previous months. However, with the solar radiation getting stronger, it can get very hot during the day, more often than in June and July. In the worst moments, the temperature can reach 39/40 °C (102/104 °F).
In the central and southern plains, in the Gran Chaco, occupied by the savannah, the average temperatures are similar, around 25/26 °C (77/79 °F), however, the variations are greater than in the north, in fact, the winds cold coming from the Argentine pampas, the surazos, can lower the night temperature up to 7/8 °C (45/46 °F) or a little below, while on other occasions the temperature can reach 41/42 °C (106/108 °F). Here too, however, it is the dry season, and the rains are rare.
In the Andes (see La Paz, Sucre, Lake Titicaca, Salar de Uyuni), it is still a dry and sunny period, although the rains increase slightly, especially in the northern part. The temperature rises a little compared to the previous months, however, at night it is still cold at high altitudes, even though frosts are rarer than in the winter months.
