Argentina - weather in May

Map with cities - Argentina

In Argentina, May is the last autumn month, but in the second half it can already take on winter characteristics. In the north, the climate is very mild or pleasantly warm, in fact the daily average exceeds 18 °C (64.5 °F). In the center-north (see Rosario, Buenos Aires), the average drops to around 15 °C (59 °F). In Patagonia, the average is around 10 °C (50 °F) in Puerto Madryn and Comodoro Rivadavia, however the wind often blows, increasing the feeling of cold. In the extreme south, in Tierra del Fuego, it is quite cold, in fact, the average temperature is 3/4 °C (37/39 °F).
Even though heatwaves are by now rare, in the north the temperature can still reach 35 °C (95 °F), at least in the first part of the month.
Instead, during cold spells, it can snow in Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego, and the temperature can drop to -5 °C (23 °F) in the south, 0 °C (32 °F) in the center and 5 °C (41 °F) in the north. Occasionally, lower values can be reached, in fact the cold records in this month are below -10 °C (14 °F) in the southern inland areas, and about 0 °C (32 °F) in the north.
The rains are scarce in the north-west, almost absent in the northern part of the Andes, relatively frequent but quite scarce in quantity in Patagonia, and relatively abundant in the central-north (see Buenos Aires), while they are abundant in the north-east (see Posadas, Iguazu Falls) and in the central and southern part of the Andes (see Bariloche).
