The
winter, from December to February, is quite cold. At night, the temperature often drops below freezing, even though the temperature range is often considerable, so during the day the temperature can become mild.
However, there may sometimes be periods of
snow and frosts. In fact, we are at the northwestern tip of an area subject to cold, called "frost triangle", whose eastern vertices are the towns of
Teruel and Calamocha, in Aragon. In this area, during the most intense cold waves, with clear skies, snow on the ground and no wind, the temperature can drop below -20 °C (-4 °F). In Molina de Aragón, it even dropped to -28 °C (-18.5 °F) in January 1952 and December 1963, which represents the absolute coldest record in all of Spain (excluding some high-altitude valleys in the Pyrenees). After 2000, it dropped to -24 °C (-11 °F) in December 2001 and -25 °C (-13 °F) in January 2021.
The
summer , from June to August, is hot and sunny, with rare thunderstorms.
During the day it can be very hot, even though the temperature drops a lot after the sunset: the difference between night and day is often 20 °C (36 °F).
On the hottest days of the year, the temperature typically reaches 35/36 °C (95/97 °F). The heat record is 38 °C (100.5 °F) and was recorded in August 1987, in July 1995 and at the end of June 2019.
On average, there are around 2,455
sunshine hours per year. Here are the average sunshine hours per day.

Best Time
The
best time to visit Molina de Aragón runs from June to September, since it is the warmest and sunniest period of the year. Sometimes it can be hot, while in other circumstances, nights can be cool or even cold, so it can be useful to bring a sweatshirt or sweater and a light jacket for the evening, and maybe gloves and a wool hat, which take up little space and can be useful on colder nights.
If you fear the heat, you can choose the periods from mid-May to mid-June and from mid-September to mid-October.
