In Argentina, September is a spring month. In the north, crossed by the Tropic of Capricorn, the climate is already quite hot during the day, and the average daily temperature is around 21 °C (70 °F). Also, sometimes in the north there can be
heat waves, during which the temperature can reach 40 °C (104 °F).
In the center-north, in Buenos Aires and Rosario, the daily average is around 15 °C (59 °F).
In Patagonia the temperatures are quite mild, in fact the daily average is around 11 °C (52 °F) in Puerto Madryn, Trelew and Comodoro Rivadavia, while in the far south, in Tierra del Fuego, it is still cold, in fact the daily average drops to around 5 °C (41 °F).
During
cold air irruptions from the south, the temperature can drop rapidly, and can go below freezing in Patagonia and in the far south. Sometimes the cold air can also reach the north, where lows can approach the freezing point.
The
rains are abundant in the north-east, but sometimes also in the Buenos Aires area, where there can be waves of bad weather. In the north-west, on the other hand (see Tucumán, Salta), the rains are still rare.
In Patagonia, which has an arid and windy climate, the rains are quite rare, while in the extreme south, in Tierra del Fuego, where disturbances from the Pacific pass throughout the year, the rains are quite frequent.
As happens all over the world in the months of the equinox, the
day and the night last approximately 12 hours everywhere.
