Climate chart - Termez
The climate of Termez is arid continental, with quite mild winters and very hot, sunny summers.
Termez (or Termiz) is a city of 180,000 inhabitants, located in the extreme south of Uzbekistan, at 300 meters (1,000 feet) above sea level and 37 degrees north latitude.
We are in the ancient region of Bactria. Just south of the city, the Amu Darya River marks the border with Afghanistan.
Being in the extreme south of Uzbekistan, Termez is the mildest city in the country in winter and the hottest in summer.

Precipitation is very low, amounting to 160 millimeters (6.3 inches) per year. Most of the rain falls from November to April, while in summer it almost never rains.

The winter, from December to February, is quite mild during the day, although there are cold nights, during which the temperature often drops below freezing. The average temperature in January is around 5 °C (41 °F).
During periods of stable weather, fog can form.
Due to the arid climate, both rain and snow are quite rare, and in any case generally not abundant.
In winter, the city is subject to very different air masses.
There are quite mild periods, during which the temperature can reach or exceed 15 °C (59 °F).
On the other hand, there can be cold waves, during which the temperature drops once every few years to -10 °C (14 °F), more rarely to -20 °C (-4 °F). The coldest record is -23.9 °C (-11 °F), set in January 1949. More recently, the temperature hit -21.7 °C (-7.1 °F) in February 2014.

Summer, from June to August, is very hot and sunny. The average in July is 31 °C (88 °F), with a maximum of 40 °C (104 °F).
On the hottest days od the year, the temperature can reach 45 °C (113 °F). The heat record is 47 °C (116.5 °F), set in June 2022 and July 1995.
