Climate chart - Andijan
The climate of Andijan is semi-arid continental, with cold winters and very hot, sunny summers.
Andijan (Andijon, Andizhan) is a city of 480,000 inhabitants, the fourth largest in Uzbekistan, located in the far east of the country, in the north-eastern part of the Fergana Valley, at 475 meters (1,600 feet) above sea level and almost 41 degrees north latitude.
Near the city flows the Kara Darya (Qaradaryo) River, which then joins the Naryn River to form the Syr Darya.
To the north, in Kyrgyzstan, lies the western part of the Tian Shan mountain range.

Precipitation is scarce, around to 245 millimeters (9.5 inches) per year. Summer is the driest season.

The winter, from December to February, is cold, with an average January temperature of around 0.5 °C (33 °F).
During periods of stable weather, fog can form.
There are quite mild periods, during which the temperature can reach or exceed 10 °C (50 °F).
Due to the arid climate, both rain and snowfall are quite rare, and in any case generally not abundant.
During cold waves, the temperature can drop to -15 °C (5 °F) or below, although this doesn't happen every year. Occasionally it can even drop to -20°C (-4 °F).

Summer, from June to August, is very hot and sunny. The average in July is 28 °C (82.5 °F).
On the hottest days, the temperature reaches or exceeds 40 °C (104 °F).
