The sun shines quite often, although there are periods characterized by clouds, rain and wind.
There may be hot periods even in the middle of winter, with highs around 30 °C (86 °F).
However, there may also be short cold periods, with highs below 10 °C (50 °F).

The summer, from June to September, is very hot and quite sunny, although sometimes a thunderstorm can break out. There are long periods, sometimes whole months, with maximum temperatures around 40 °C (104 °F). It is often very hot even in May and October, and sometimes in late April. From time to time, the city can be reached by the remnants of a hurricane, coming from the Gulf of Mexico or the Pacific. In general, hurricanes weaken when they penetrate inland, however, they can still bring abundant rains. The hurricane season runs from June to November, although they are more likely from August to October, with a peak in September.
