The climate of Dallas is subtropical, with quite mild winters and very hot, muggy summers.
The city is located in northern Texas, in the flat part (the eastern one).
The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is of 7.9 °C (46 °F), that of the warmest months (July, August) is of 29.8 °C (86 °F).
Precipitation amounts to 940 millimeters (37 inches) per year.

Winter from December to February, is mild, with many sunny days. There can be warm days even in the middle of winter, during which the temperature can reach or exceed 25 °C (77 °F).
However, from November to March it can get cold at night, and the temperature can drop below freezing. Occasionally, there may be real cold waves, which last a few days, during which the temperature can drop to -10 °C (14 °F) or below. At Fort Worth Airport, the coldest record is -18.9 °C (-2 °F) and was set in February 2021.
Sometimes, the dangerous phenomenon of freezing rain can occur.
Snow in Dallas is quite rare. On average, 4 cm (1.5 in) of snow fall per year. In February 2011, 28 cm (11 in) of snow fell. In February 2021, 8 cm (3 in) of snow fell and the temperature remained around freezing or below for 9 days in a row.

Dallas

In summer, from June to September, the combination of high temperature and humidity makes the heat very unpleasant. On the hottest days, it can reach and exceed 40 °C (104 °F). The record is 45 °C (113 °F), set at the end of June 1980.

From time to time, the city can be reached by the remnants of a hurricane, coming from the Gulf of Mexico or the Pacific. In general, hurricanes weaken when they penetrate inland, however, they can still bring abundant rains. The hurricane season runs from June to November, although they are more likely from August to October, with a peak in September.

Dallas is located in the "tornado alley", so tornadoes can occasionally occur in the April-June period (and more rarely in autumn).

To visit Dallas, you can choose spring and autumn (in particular, from mid-March to mid-April and from mid-October to mid-November), to avoid the summer heat as well as the possible cold in winter.
