The climate of Dnipro (formerly Dnipropetrovsk) is continental, with very cold winters, in which the temperature is often below freezing, and hot summers.

Summer is warm, with a good number of hours of sunshine and some thunderstorms, more frequent in the first part. Although the weather is usually not too hot, there can be very hot periods, usually of short duration, during which the temperature can reach or exceed 35 °C (95 °F).
