The climate of Diyarbakir is
continental, with relatively cold, rainy winters and very hot, sunny summers.
The city is located in the south-east of Turkey, 675 meters (2,215 feet) above sea level, in upper Mesopotamia; it is crossed by the Tigris River and is considered the capital of Turkish Kurdistan.
