Climate chart - Adana
The climate of Adana can be defined as Mediterranean, given that the winters are mild and rainy, and the summers hot and sunny. However, the summer is particularly hot.
The city, formerly called Antioch of Cilicia, is located in southern Turkey, about 40 km (25 mi) away from the coast of the Levantine Sea (the easternmost part of the Mediterranean Sea), in a small plain bordered to the north by the Anti-Taurus mountains.
In the vicinity of the city, there is an artificial lake created by the Seyhan Dam, which constitutes an additional source of humidity in addition to that of the sea, which is not far away.

Adana

Even though the winter is mild, sometimes there can be cold periods, with lows around freezing or slightly below and highs of 8/9 °C (46/48). In February 1997, the temperature dropped to -5 °C (23 °F).
In summer, as mentioned, temperatures are very high, furthermore, there can be heat waves, with highs of 40 °C (104 °F) or more. The record heat is 46 °C, set in August 2023.
