Climate chart - Jaca
The climate of Jaca is suboceanic, with quite cold, rainy winters and pleasantly warm summers, but with cool nights and some hot days.
The town is located in the north of Spain, in Aragon, in a valley at an altitude of 800 meters (2,600 feet), a few kilometers south of the Pyrenees, in a stretch where the latter exceed 2,500 meters (8,200 ft). The valley is crossed by the Aragón River, which then flows into the Ebro.

The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is of 4.5 °C (40 °F), that of the warmest month (August) is of 21.5 °C (70.7 °F).

Precipitation amounts to 770 millimeters (30.3 inches) per year.

The winter, from December to February, is quite cold. Average temperatures are not very low, but at night it gets cold, and there can be windy days.
Also, there may sometimes be periods characterized by snow and frost.
The temperature dropped to -14 °C (7 °F) in January 1985, to -12 °C (10.5 °F) in January 2021, to -11 °C (12 °F) in February 1986, and to -10 °C (14 °F) in December 2001 and February 2018.

The Summer, from June to August, is warm during the day, while nights are cool. The sun often shines, although there can sometimes be thunderstorms.
At night the temperature can drop below 10 °C (50 °F) even in summer. However, there may also be very hot periods, in which the temperature can reach or exceed 35 °C (95 °F). The temperature reached 39 °C (102 °F) in August 2021, 38.5 °C (101 °F) in late June 2019, and 38 °C (100.5 °F) in both July and August 2020.

The best time to visit Jaca runs from June to September, since it is the warmest and sunniest period of the year. Sometimes it can be hot, while in other circumstances, nights can be cool or even cold, so it can be useful to bring a sweatshirt or sweater and a light jacket for the evening, and maybe gloves and a wool hat, which take up little space and can be useful on colder nights.
If you fear the heat, you can choose the periods from mid-May to mid-June and from mid-September to mid-October.
