Climate chart - Ibiza
The climate of Ibiza, belonging to the Autonomous Community of the Balearic Islands, is typically Mediterranean, with mild, relatively rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
In the interior of the island, there are hills that reach up to 382 meters (1,253 feet) above sea level.
The Balearic Islands are pretty windy, especially from October to April, however, being the westernmost one, Ibiza is the most sheltered from the north wind that blows from France, together with the nearby small island of Formentera. In summer, sea breezes blow, but they are welcome because they make the heat more bearable.

The average temperature ranges from 12 °C (53.5 °F) in January and February to 26.5 °C (79.5 °F) in August.

Rainfall is not abundant, since it amounts to 450 millimeters (17.7 inches) per year, and follows the Mediterranean pattern, so it is more common in autumn and winter, it gradually decreases during spring, and reaches a minimum in summer, when it almost never rains.

Winter, from December to February, is mild, with many sunny days, but also with periods of rain and wind.
Very cold days are rare, however, on the coldest nights of the year, the temperature generally drops to 1/2 °C (34/36 °F). Frosts are very rare, however, the temperature dropped to -3 °C (26.5 °F) in February 1956, to -2 °C (28.5 °F) in February 1965, and to -1 °C (30 °F) in January 1985 and January 2005.
Snow in Ibiza is very rare, and it is rarer than in Mallorca and Menorca, since, as we have mentioned, it is more sheltered from the cold air that can come down from the Rhone valley (France). In 1956, considered "the year of snow" in Spain and elsewhere, the island was completely whitened by several centimeters of snow, but later, only light snowfalls were seen, in February 1983, January 1985, January 2005 and February 2012.

Summer, from June to mid-September, is typically Mediterranean, ie hot and sunny, with very rare rains. During the day, the sea breeze gives some relief, but nights are sultry.
On average, the temperature exceeds 30 °C (86 °F) for forty days a year, but it hardly ever exceeds 35 °C (95 °F). However, on the hottest days of the year, it can reach 34/35 °C (93/95 °F).
The heat record is 38.5 °C (101.5 °F), recorded in early September 2016 (but the hottest months are almost always July and August).

Ibiza

The amount of sunshine in Ibiza is not very good in winter, when Atlantic or Mediterranean depressions can affect the island, however, there is a moderate amount of sunny days even in this period. The sunniest period is from May to August, when clear skies are the norm. In September, the first Atlantic disturbances occur, so in autumn the sun does not always shine.

The sea is warm enough for swimming from July to September, while in June and October, it is cool.

Best Time

The best time to go to Ibiza for a beach holiday is summer, from June to mid-September. The water temperature is comfortable enough from July to September, although in September, which overall is still a good month (especially in the first half), the first rainy days may occur. May and June are sunny months, but the sea is still a bit cool, especially in May, when it is even a little cold.

April and May are suitable months for visiting the island and its cities. In October and November, the temperatures are mild, but the days are shorter and the weather can be rainy and windy.
