Climate chart - Ceuta
The climate of Ceuta is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The city is located in a small territory belonging to Spain on the north coast of Morocco, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) from the south coast of Andalusia.
The climate is particularly mild because the city is located on a small peninsula and is surrounded by water. However, the city is windy, in particular, it receives the winds typical of the Strait of Gibraltar, the west wind (Poniente), more frequent from October to April, and the east wind (Levante), more frequent from May to September.
The territory is occupied by hills that to the west of the city reach 349 meters (1,145 feet) in Mount Anyera, while to the east, in the small peninsula of Almina, beyond the city and the port we find Mount Hacho, 204 meters (669 ft) high. However, the highest peak in the area is Jebel Musa, located in Morocco and 842 meters (2,762 feet) high.

The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is of 13.4 °C (56 °F), that of the warmest month (August) is of 25 °C (77 °F).

Precipitation amounts to 850 millimeters (33.5 inches) per year. In autumn and winter, the rains can sometimes be abundant.

The winter, from December to February, is mild. There are some periods of bad weather, but also many sunny days.
It rarely gets very cold, and as we have mentioned, the city has a mild microclimate. The temperature almost never drops below freezing. In the weather station in operation since 2003, the temperature dropped to a minimum of 1.3 °C (34 °F) in January 2005, but sometimes it does not drop below 7/8 °C (45/46 °F) for an entire winter.
As you can imagine, snow in Ceuta is extremely rare. On March 1, 1993, sleet fell in the city, while Mount Hacho was covered with a blanket of white.

The summer, from mid-June to mid-September, is warm and sunny. The influence of the sea generally makes the heat acceptable. Actually, sometimes there are quite cool days, with highs around 24/25 °C, even in July and August.
However, there can also be hot and muggy periods, and more rarely, torrid days when the winds blow from the inside. The temperature can reach or exceed 35 °C (95 °F) for a few days a year. In July 2009, it reached 40 °C (104 °F).

Ceuta

The sea temperature ranges between 16 °C (61 °F) and 23 °C (73 °F). In this stretch of sea where the waters of the Atlantic and the Mediterranean meet, the sea never gets very warm, however, from July to September you can swim, although some may find it a bit cool.

Best Time

The best period to visit Ceuta is late spring, from mid-April to mid-June. However, since it's usually not too hot in summer, you can also choose this season. Autumn is mild, but there can be rainy periods, as well as in winter.
The best time for a beach holiday is summer, from mid-June to mid-September. It's better to bring a sweatshirt or sweater for cool and windy evenings, especially in June, but for safety, also in July and August, especially if you are sensitive to cold.
