Climate chart - Vredendal
The climate of Vredendal is subtropical desert, with very mild winters (but during which it can get cold at night) and very hot summers. The sun shines all year round.
The city is located in South Africa, about 30 km (18.5 mi) away from the southwestern coast, on the banks of the Olifants River.
The distance from the coast is sufficient to make the climate very hot in summer, and a bit cold in winter nights. However, a cold current flows on the sea, and on the coast the climate is much milder.
In summer, the wind from the ocean almost always manages to lower the temperature by several degrees, even when the days have been torrid.
