Climate chart - Tyumen
The climate of Tjumen is continental, with cold winters, during which the temperature is normally below freezing, and warm summers.

Tjumen is a city of 745,000 inhabitants, the capital of the oblast' of the same name, located in Russia, in the West Siberian Plain, on the banks of the Tura River (belonging to the Ob basin), along the Trans-Siberian Railway, and at 57 degrees north latitude.

Precipitation is not abundant, amounting to about 475 millimeters (18.5 inches) per year. Summer is the rainiest season.

Winter, from November to March, is very cold: the average temperature in January is about -15 °C (5 °F). The sky is often cloudy, and light snow often falls. The ground is usually covered in snow.

In July 1989, the average maximum was 29 °C (84 °F).
