The climate of Zlatibor is moderately continental, with cold winters, with temperatures often below freezing (0 °C or 32 °F), and mild to pleasantly warm summers.
The city is located in the southwest of Serbia, at an altitude of 1,000 meters (3,300 ft), and is the capital of the district of the same name.
Winter is cold and gray, with snowfalls and frosts. Snow covers the ground for 114 days a year. Sometimes fog can form.
During cold spells, which occur every year or so, the temperature drops to -15 °C (5 °F) or below. The coldest record is -23 °C (-9.5 °F), recorded in January 1954.
Summer is mild, with some cool periods but also some warm periods. Rains and thunderstorms are quite frequent. Generally the temperature reaches 31/32 °C (88/90 °F) on the hottest days, although in July 2007 it reached 36 °C (97 °F).
