The climate of Sremska Mitrovica is continental, with cold winters and hot summers.
The city is located north-west of Belgrade, on the banks of the Sava river, and is exposed, like the rest of the country, to both cold waves in winter and heat waves in summer.
Winter is cold and gray, with snowfalls and frosts, although there are also some quite mild periods. Sometimes fog can form.
