The climate of Kraljevo is continental, with cold winters and hot summers.
The city is located in south-central Serbia, at an altitude of 200 meters (650 ft), and is exposed, like the rest of the country, to both cold waves in winter and heat waves in summer.
Winter is cold and gray, with snowfalls and frosts, although there are also some quite mild periods. Sometimes fog can form.
During cold spells, which occur every year or so, the temperature drops to -15 °C (5 °F) or below. The coldest record is -24.5 °C (-12 °F), recorded in February 1956. From 2001 to 2020, the extreme minimum was -22 °C (-7.5 °F), recorded in January 2006 and in February 2012.
Summer is hot and sunny, although nights are usually cool, moreover, thunderstorms can sometimes break out in the afternoon.
In the hottest periods, the temperature can reach or exceed 37 °C (98.5 °F). The record heat is 43.5 °C (110.5 °F), recorded in July 2007. It was an exceptional heat wave, however, the temperature also reached 41 °C (106 °F) in July 2000 and in July 2012, and 40 °C (104 °F) in August 2017.
The average temperature of the coldest month (January) is of 0.6 °C (33 °F), that of the warmest month (August) is of 21.8 °C (71 °F). Here are the average temperatures.

The best times to visit Kraljevo are spring and autumn, and in particular the months of May and September. In summer, the heat is sometimes bearable, while at other times, especially in July and August, it can be intense.
