Diourbel's climate is tropical semi-arid, with a long, dry season from November to May, and a wet, rainy season that runs roughly from late June to early October. The total rainfall that falls in a year is not low, but the climate can be defined as semi-arid because the dry season is very long.
The city is located in the center of Senegal, about 120 km (75 mi) east of Dakar.
