Climate chart - Al Wajh
In Al Wajh (or Wejh), the climate is desert, with pleasantly warm winters from December to February, and very hot, muggy summers from June to September.
The city is located in the north-west of Saudi Arabia, on the coast of the Red Sea, in the province of Tabuk, at 26 degrees north latitude. To the east lies a mountain range parallel to the coast.
The rains, which are very scarce, fall mostly from November to February.
The sun shines all year round.
In winter, sometimes cool or slightly cold air can arrive from the north, which can lower night temperatures to 10 °C (50 °F) or a little below. In the cold winter of 1992, the temperature dropped to 5 °C (41 °F) in January and 6 °C (43 °F) in February.
The summer is not as hot as in almost all other cities in Saudi Arabia, but the humidity is much higher. However, when torrid winds blow from the interior, the temperature can rise significantly, exceeding 40 °C (104 °F), with peaks of 45 °C (113 °F), while the air becomes very dry.
The sea in Al Wajh is warm enough for swimming all year round, although it drops to 23.5 °C (75 °F) in February and March, while it becomes very warm in summer. However, in winter, the air temperature is not always suitable for going to the sea and swimming.
