Weather and climate in Puerto Maldonado (Peru)

The climate of Puerto Maldonado is tropical, with a rainy period from October to April and a relatively dry period from June to August, the austral winter, when temperatures also drop a little.
The city is located in southeastern Peru, near the border with Bolivia, at 12 degrees south latitude, and 200 meters (650 feet) above sea level. We are in the Amazon rainforest, at the confluence of the Tambopata and Madre de Dios rivers.
Unlike in the north of the Amazon rainforest, in this southern part, winds from the south can blow during the winter, the surazos, which can lower the temperature to 10/12 °C (50/54 °F) at night and to 18/20 °C (64/68 °F) during the day. In July 1975, the temperature even dropped to 4 °C (39 °F), while in July 2010m there were two days with a maximum of 13 °C (55.5 °F).
