Climate chart - Iquitos
The climate of Iquitos is equatorial, that is, hot, humid and rainy all year round. However, even though there is no dry season, the rains decrease somewhat in the austral winter, from June to September.
The city is located in northeastern Peru, at almost 4 degrees south latitude, on the Amazon River, and is the main Peruvian city in the Amazon rainforest, as well as the capital of the Loreto department.
Occasionally, in the austral winter, there may be short periods with slightly cool temperatures. For example, in August 1993, there was a day with a minimum of 14.5 °C (58 °F) and a maximum of 24 °C (75 °F), while in June 2021, there was a day with a minimum of 15.7 °C (60.3 °F) and a maximum of 22.5 °C (72.5 °F).
Fog can form at night and early in the morning, especially in the southern austral.
