Weather and climate in Ciudad Del Este (Paraguay)

The climate of Ciudad del Este (often abbreviated to CDE), the second largest city in Paraguay, is subtropical, with very mild winters (from May to August), and very hot, muggy summers (from November to March).
The rains are abundant and there is no dry season, however, they are a little rarer in the austral winter, when there are long periods without rain, of a week or two, even if it depends on the years.
The city is the capital of the Alto Paraná department and is located in the southeast of Paraguay, on the border with Brazil and Argentina, at 25 degrees south latitude and 200 meters (650 feet) above sea level. Beyond the Paraná River, we find the Brazilian city of Foz do Iguaçu. Further south, where the Iguazú River flows into the Paraná, we find the Argentine city of Puerto Iguazú. To the southeast are the Iguazu Falls, which are only accessible from Brazil and Argentina.
In winter, the clash between air masses can lead to sudden changes in temperature. There are hot periods, with highs around 30 °C (86 °F) or higher, however, there can also be quite cold periods, usually of short duration, in which the temperature can drop to about 0 °C (32 °F) at night, while during the day it can remain around 10 °C (50 °F).
Instead, from mid-August to April there can be heat waves, in which the temperature reaches 40 °C (104 °F).
