Climate chart - Jacobabad
The climate of Jacobabad (formerly Khangarh) is subtropical desert, with a very mild winter, an extremely hot period from April to June, and a period, from July to September, partially affected by the Indian monsoon.
The city is located in southern Pakistan, in the Sindh province, in the Indus valley, at 28 degrees north latitude. To the west are mountains that exceed 2,000 meters (6,500 feet).
In winter, from December to February, nights are cool, and can sometimes be cold when cold air comes from the north.
The hottest time of the year is from April to June, when there can be intense heat waves. We are in the hottest area of Pakistan, which also includes the cities of Sibi, Nawabshah and Sukkur. The temperature reached 52.5 °C (126.5 °F) in late May 2010 and in early June 2003, when there were six days in a row with a maximum above 50 °C (122 °F).
From July to September, the Indian monsoon period, the wind from the south slightly lowers the temperature, which however remains very high, since the sea is not very close. The rains are rare, but at times they can be intense, resulting in floods.
