Climate chart - Masirah
The climate of Masirah is tropical desert, with a warm and sunny winter, a very hot spring, and a cloudy and windy summer due to the influence of the monsoon.
Masirah (or Masira) is an island located in Oman, near the coast of the Arabian Sea (belonging to the Indian Ocean), in the Ash Sharqiyah South Governorate, and at almost 21 degrees north latitude.

Precipitation is very scarce, amounting to about 40 millimeters (1.5 inches) per year. Although it is rare in all months, it occurs preferably in two periods: from December to April, when depressions form on the Gulf of Oman, and from June to August, when rains can occur brought by the monsoon circulation that affects the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula in summer.

The winter, from December to February, is warm, but not excessively so, and sunny, and the sea is also warm enough for swimming. The average temperature in January is 23 °C (73.5 °F).
Sometimes there can be short periods of cool and windy weather, with lows of 15 °C (59 °F) or slightly below, and highs around 21/22 °C (70/72 °F). The coldest records in January and February are around 11.5/12 °C (52.5/53.5 °F).

In spring, from March to May, both temperature and humidity gradually increase. In May, the hottest month, the daily average reaches 31.5 °C (88.7 °F). On the other hand, the wind also increases in intensity.

The hottest days are those when the winds blow from the interior, in which, in return, the humidity decreases. In these cases, the temperature can exceed 30 °C (86 °F) in winter and 40 °C (104 °F) from April to June and again in October, while from July to September, when the southwest monsoon prevails, this phenomenon is less evident, and at most it reaches 37/38 °C (99/100 °F). In May and June the heat records are around 45/47 °C (113/117 °F).

Summer, from June to September, is hot and humid, although less hot than the previous months, and is also decidedly windy, with mist carried by the wind, and the sea rough. The hours of sunshine also decrease. Rainfall, however, is very rare. It is the period of Khareef, which means "autumn" in Arabic, although the effects are less evident than in Dhofar (see Salalah).

Every now and then Masirah can be affected by tropical cyclones coming from the Arabian Sea, which bring strong winds and torrential rains. Cyclones form from May to December, and are more frequent at the beginning of the period (May-June), and somewhat less so at the end (October-December). The city was hit by the Oman cyclone in June 1977.
