Climate chart - Khasab
The climate of Khasab is tropical desert, with pleasantly warm, relatively rainy winters and long, very hot summers.
Khasab is a town of 18,000 inhabitants, located in the far north of Oman, at 26 degrees north latitude, in an exclave, the Governorate of Musandam, located in the Musandam Peninsula Ruus Al Jibal, overlooking the Strait of Hormuz, between the United Arab Emirates and Iran.
It is called the "Norway of Oman" for the jagged shape of the coast, with the presence of bays and inlets that resemble fjords.
Inside the peninsula there are mountains, belonging to the Hajar chain, whose highest peak, Jabal Al Harim, reaches 2,087 meters (6,847 feet).

Precipitation is scarce, since it amounts to 185 millimeters (7.3 inches) per year, and is concentrated from December to March, while in the long summer it essentially never rains.

Winter, from December to February, is pleasantly warm. The average temperature in January is around 21 °C (70 °F). The sun often shines even in this season, however, this is the only moderately rainy season, in which there can be periods of bad weather, with wind, rain and thunderstorms, although this does not happen often.
Sometimes there can be periods a little cool, with lows of 12/13 °C (54/55 °F), and occasionally 10 °C (50 °F), and highs of 17/19 °C (63/66 °F).

The long summer, from April to October, is very hot and sunny. The daily average in July and August exceeds 35 °C (95 °F). Temperatures remain high even at night. In addition, the humidity coming from the sea makes the heat difficult to bear.

The hottest days are those in which the winds blow from the interior of the Arabian Peninsula. In these cases, the temperature can exceed 30 °C (86 °F) in winter and 40 °C (104 °F) from April to October, but at least the humidity decreases. From June to August, the heat records are around 46/47 °C (115/117 °F).
