The climate of Trondheim is moderately continental, with cold winters, during which the average temperature is a few degrees below freezing, and mild summers.
The city is located is located in the county of Trøndelag, which occupies the central part of Norway. We are inside a large and deep fjord that flows into the west coast, and therefore there is a slightly colder and less rainy winter than the coast directly exposed to the Atlantic Ocean (in the part called Norwegian Sea). The result is a contrasted climate, which is affected by both the maritime influence from the west and the continental influence from the east.

The winter is cold and cloudy.
There are quite mild periods, more or less long depending on the winter, in which Atlantic currents prevail, the temperature exceeds freezing, it often rains and the wind blows.
There are also colder periods, when it can snow, and the temperature can drop below freezing. Snowfall can sometimes be abundant.

The summer is mild, with fairly frequent rains. The days are very long.
