Climate chart - Keetmanshoop
Keetmanshoop's climate is sub-tropical desert, tempered by altitude, with a very hot, relatively rainy season from November to March and a long dry season from April to October, within which there is a cool period from May to August. In the latter, at night the temperature can drop down to the freezing point or slightly below. During the day, it can get very hot from September to March.
The city is located in southern Namibia, at 1,000 meters (3,300 feet) above sea level.
We are in the Kalahari desert, where the rains allow the growth of some species of xerophilous plants.
The sun shines all year round, and indeed, with nearly 3,900 hours of sunshine a year, Keetmanshoop is one of the sunniest cities in the world.
