The climate of Maputo (formerly Lourenço Marques) is subtropical, with a hot, rainy season from December to March and a cool, dry season from June to August.
The city is the capital of Mozambique and is located in the far south of the country, on the coast.
In the austral summer, the city is exposed to phenomena such as floods and tropical cyclones.
