Climate chart - Tampico
The climate of Tampico is sub-tropical, with a pleasantly warm, quite dry winter and a hot, muggy, and rainy summer.
The city is located on the east coast of Mexico in the state of Tamaulipas, at 22 degrees north latitude.
Winter is generally quite warm, but sometimes, from mid-November to mid-March, there can be cold and windy days, when winds from the United States blow. The temperature can drop to 5 °C (41 °F) at night, and can remain around 13 °C (55 °F) (and occasionally even below) in the daytime.
The hottest time of the year is the one preceding the summer rains. Generally, the wind blows from the sea, but there can be very hot days, maybe only one, in which the temperature exceeds 35 °C (95 °F), and sometimes even 40 °C (104 °F).
From June to November (but with a higher probability from August to October), there is the risk of hurricanes.
The temperature of the sea (Gulf of Mexico) is high enough for swimming all year round, although it is cooler from January to March.

Tampico

Best Time

The best time to visit Tampico is the dry season, from November to May. In April and May, however, it can be very hot, while in November a hurricane can still arrive. You can therefore choose the period from December to March, even if it can sometimes get cool, so it will be useful to bring a sweater and a jacket.
There is no perfect time for a beach holiday.
