Climate in Mexicali (Baja California)

The climate of Mexicali is sub-tropical desert, very mild in winter and very hot in summer.
The city is located in the state of Baja California, on the border with California, at 32 degrees north latitude.
In winter it is usually sunny, and during the day the temperature reaches or exceeds 20 °C (68 °F), while nights are quite cold. Sometimes there can be periods colder than usual, in which the temperature drops to the freezing point at night, although during the day it exceeds 10 °C (50 °F).
In summer, we are in the hottest area of Mexico, and one of the warmest in North America, because the mountains isolate it from the Pacific currents, while the Gulf of California in the south is closed and warm. In July and August, there is a slight increase in humidity which makes the heat even more unpleasant.
From June to November, but with a higher probability from August to October, the city can be affected by the remnants of Pacific Ocean hurricanes, which arrive from tropical regions after passing over Baja California. However, hurricanes are rare in June, the month in which they are most frequent is September, and historically they have never occurred in November.
The rare rains occur in winter and in summer. In summer, they are due to the humid air that arrives from the Gulf of California, and sometimes to the remnants of tropical cyclones that can reach the area.

The best time to visit Mexicali is from November to March. Winter, from December to February, is generally a mild and sunny season, although it can sometimes rain, or it can get a bit cold (especially in December and January). You can therefore choose the months of March and November.
