Climate chart - La Paz
The climate of La Paz is sub-tropical desert, with a pleasantly warm winter from December to March, and a very hot summer from May to October, within which there is a relatively rainy period from July to September.

The city is located in Mexico, at 24 degrees north latitude, in the inland part of Baja California, the one that not receiving the cold sea current of the Pacific, is characterized by high temperatures, as well as a warm sea in summer. Furthermore, we are in the southern part of the Baja California peninsula, the one most affected by humid currents in the July-September period, although the total rainfall is still low.

Even though we are on the coast, for many months a year there is a desert climate, with strong differences in temperature between night and day.
In winter, when cool air arrives from the United States, some days can be cool and windy, with the night temperature dropping to 5 °C (41 °F), but even in these cases, in the daytime it usually remains around 20 °C (68 °F).

On the hottest days of the year, which can occur from May to October, the temperature generally reaches 40 °C (104 °F). In summer, the heat is intense but tempered by the breezes. During the summer, the humidity gradually increases, and the muggiest month is September.

From June to November, but with a higher probability from August to October, La Paz and the Baja California peninsula can be affected by hurricanes of the Pacific Ocean, as happened with Hurricane Odile in September 2014. However, hurricanes are rare in June, the month in which they are most frequent is September, and historically they have never occurred in November.

The sea is very cool from January to April, while it becomes very warm from July to October.

La Paz

Best Time

La Paz can be visited from mid-November to March, as it is the mildest season. During the day you can enjoy the sun, while in the evening you will need a sweater and a light jacket.
For a beach holiday, you may prefer May (when the sea is still a little cool) and the first half of November (when the sea is warmer).
