Climate chart - Nouadhibou
The climate of Nouadhibou, the second largest city in Mauritania, is sub-tropical desert, mitigated by the ocean, with very mild, sunny winters and warm to hot summers.
The city is located in Mauritania, in the northern part of the coast, on a peninsula called Ras Nouadhibou. A cool current flows over the ocean, from which a moderate wind often blows, usually from the north.
Even if it hardly ever rains and the sky is often clear, fogs and mists can form in the early hours of the day, especially in summer.
The hottest period goes from August to October, when the sea gets warmer and the north winds become less insistent.
All year round, hot winds can sometimes blow from inland areas, which can considerably raise the temperature.
