Bir Moghrein's climate is sub-tropical desert, with very mild, sunny winters and very hot summers.
The small town is located in northwestern Mauritania, at 370 meters (1,215 feet) above sea level, and near the border with Western Sahara.
We are in the area where the winds blow from the Atlantic Ocean, but the distance from the sea is sufficient to make them less cool than in the vicinity of the coast.
