Climate chart - Tripoli
The climate of Tripoli can be defined as Mediterranean, since the winters are mild and quite rainy and the summers are hot and sunny. However, the rains are not abundant and occur for a short period, so the climate is semi-arid.
The city is the capital of Libya and is located on the coast, in the western part of the country.
The humidity is generally high, however, all year round, a hot, dry wind can blow from the desert, which can at the same time lower the humidity and raise the temperature.
The international airport, where the temperatures are taken, is located about 20 km (12 mi) south of the coast, so it detects temperatures a few degrees higher than the central and historic districts of the city, which are located on the coast. Here, the maximum temperature in July and August is around 30 °C (86 °F).
