Climate chart - Kufra
The climate of Kufra is subtropical desert, with mild winters, during which it can get cold at night, and very hot, sunny summers.
The oasis is located in south-eastern Libya, just north of the Tropic of Cancer, at 380 meters (1,245 feet) above sea level. The main city of the oasis is Al-Jawf.
In winter, the temperature can occasionally drop to 0 °C (32 °F) or slightly below. In February 1956 and January 1981, it dropped to -2 °C (28.5 °F).
In summer, the temperature can reach or exceed 45 °C (113 °F). The heat record is 48 °C (118.5 °F).
The rains are extremely scarce, and in practice it never rains.
