The climate of Lodwar is tropical arid, very hot all year round, with two relatively rainy periods from March to May and from October to December, while in the rest of the year, the rains are rare and irregular.
The city is located in northwestern Kenya, at an altitude of 500 meters (1,650 feet), to the west of Lake Turkana and on the banks of the Turkwel River.
