Climate chart - Kyzylorda
The climate of Kyzylorda is desert continental, with cold winters and very hot summers.

Kyzylorda (or Qyzylorda, Kzyl-Orda) is a city of 355,000 inhabitants located in southern Kazakhstan, in the region (oblys) of the same name, of which it is the capital, on the banks of the Syr Darya River, and at almost 45 degrees north latitude.
About 200 km (125 mi) to the northwest is the Baikonur Cosmodrome.

Precipitation is very low, amounting to about 150 millimeters (6 inches) per year. In particular, summer, a season when thunderstorms occur in northern Kazakhstan, here is dry.

Winter, from December to February, is very cold: the average temperature in January is around -6.5 °C (20.5 °F).
