The climate of Kostanay is
continental, with very cold winters and warm summers.
Kostanay (or Qostanay, Kustanai), is a city of 215,000 inhabitants located in the north of Kazakhstan, in the region (oblys) of the same name, of which it is the capital, on the banks of the Tobol River, and at 53 degrees north latitude.
About 100 km (62 mi) to the north and west is the border with Russia.
