Climate chart - Aral
The climate of Aral is desert continental, with very cold winters and very hot summers.

Aral (formerly Aralsk) is a city of 30,000 inhabitants, located in central-western Kazakhstan, at almost 47 degrees north latitude, in the region (oblys) of Kyzylorda.
The city was once a port on the Aral Sea, a former large lake, once fed by the Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers, but which has partly dried up in recent decades due to the exploitation of the same rivers for agricultural purposes. Today, the remaining lake is located about 15 km (9 mi) to the southwest.

Precipitation is decidedly scarce, as it is less than 150 millimeters (6 inches) per year. In particular, summer, a season in which thunderstorms occur in northern Kazakhstan, here is dry.
