Terni's climate can be defined Mediterranean, since it has mild, fairly rainy winters and hot, sunny summers, even though the summer is particularly hot, but it is not as dry as in the true Mediterranean climate.
The city is located near the geometric center of Italy, in a basin surrounded by hills, at an altitude of 130 metres (425 feet), in Umbria.
Nearby we find Piediluco lake, at an altitude of 370 metres (1,215 ft), the town of Marmore, and the Marmore waterfalls, created by the ancient Romans, which have an overall difference in height of 165 meters (540 ft) and are formed by the waters of the Velino river, which pours into the Nera River.
