Climate chart - Tarvisio (Friuli Venezia Giulia)

The climate of Tarvisio is moderately continental, with cold winters, in which the temperature is close to freezing, and pleasantly warm summers. Precipitation is abundant.
Tarvisio is a town located in north-eastern Italy, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, at an altitude of 750 metres (2,450 feet), a short distance from the border with Austria and Slovenia. We are in the Val Canale, which starts from Pontebba in the west and reaches the Coccau pass in the north-east. To the east, on the other hand, is Fusine in Valromana. The Fusine lakes are located at an altitude of 930 metres (3,050 ft). Across the border with Slovenia are Rateče and Kranjska Gora.

Tarvisio

South of Tarvisio there are ski slopes in Monte Santo di Lussari, 1,790 meters (5,873 ft) high, and in Mount Florianca.
Winter is cold. In periods of good weather, the sun can come out, while in the Po valley and in the lowlands of central Europe, mists and cloud layers often form at low altitude.
Sometimes there can be cold spells, in which the temperature can drop down to -15 °C (5 °F) or even below. The coldest record is -23 °C (-9.5 °F) and was set in January 1985.
In winter, snowfalls are abundant. On average, 2.5 meters (98 inches) of snow fall per year. Sometimes it can snow even in May and October.
In summer, temperatures are pleasant and suitable for outdoor activities, although sometimes there can be rains and thunderstorms, and it can get a bit cold at night due to altitude.
Occasionally (but less than in the lowlands), there may be brief hot periods. There may be periods in which the temperature reaches or exceeds 30 °C (86 °F), which are becoming more frequent due to global warming. The highest record is 37 °C (98.5 °F) and was set in July 1983.

Best Time

You can go to Tarvisio both in winter, perhaps for skiing, and in summer, perhaps for trekking in the mountains and to escape the heat of the plains.
