Climate chart - Latina
The climate of Latina is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The city is located in the south of Lazio, a region of central Italy, in the plain called Agro Pontino, a short distance from the sea. To the south-west, on the coast, are Anzio and Nettuno, which are part of the province of Rome, while to the south-east are Sabaudia and San Felice Circeo. To the north-east are the Lepini Mountains, beyond which is the Latina valley, and further north the Apennines.

Winter, from December to February, is mild, with sunny periods but also periods of bad weather. Sometimes the rains can be abundant, and this can also happen in autumn, in October and in November.
Snow in Latina is very rare, given the location near the sea and protected by the mountains to the north. In fact, Latina is one of the least snowy cities in Italy. Occasionally, a light and short snowfall can be observed, but to see an accumulation of a few centimeters (1 cm = 0.4 in) you have to wait several years. This happened in February 1956, January 1985, February 1986, and December 2010.
During cold waves, the temperature typically drops a few degrees below freezing. During the exceptional cold spell of January 1985, however, the temperature dropped to -9 °C (16 °F), and there was one day with a maximum of -1 °C (30 °F).

Latina

The summer, from June to August, is hot and sunny, with rare thunderstorms that can arrive from the Apennines.
The breeze from the sea tempers the heat a bit, however, there can be sultry periods. Furthermore, during heat waves of African origin, the temperature can reach 38-40 °C (100-104 °F). In August 2017, it reached 42.4 °C (108.3 °F).

Best Time

The best times to visit Latina are spring and autumn, ie from mid-April to mid-June and from September to early October. In June, the weather is often nice, but it can sometimes get hot, especially in the second half of the month.
The best months for a beach holiday are July and August. In June, the sea is still a little cool.
