Climate chart - Frosinone
The climate of Frosinone can be defined as transitional Mediterranean, given that it has relatively mild winters and hot, sunny summers.
The rains are abundant, in fact, they amount to 1,235 millimeters (48.5 inches) per year. The rainiest period is from October to December.
The city is located in the southeast of Lazio, a region of central Italy, in the Sacco River Valley, about 70 km (45 mi) southeast of Rome. The historic center is 300 meters (985 feet) above sea level, while the newer part of the city (where the weather station is also located) is at 180 meters (590 ft). To the south-west, beyond the Lepini mountains is the Pontine plain.
Due to its location in a valley enclosed by the mountains, Frosinone's climate is slightly more continental than in Rome and Latina. In winter, cold air tends to stagnate, resulting in the accumulation of pollutants.

The winter, from December to February, is quite mild, however, in periods of good weather, it can get cold at night, fog can form, and the temperature can drop slightly below freezing, especially in neighborhoods close to the countryside.
There are mild periods, during which Atlantic currents prevail, and there may also be rainy days.
Snow in Frosinone is more frequent than in Rome. In past decades, an average of 20 cm (8 in) of snow fell per year. In February 2012 the snow thickness reached 60 cm (23.5 in).
During cold waves, the temperature can drop several degrees below freezing. Generally, the temperature reaches -8/-9 °C (16/18 °F) in the coldest periods, however, during the exceptional cold wave of January 1985, it reached -19 °C (-2 °F).

Frosinone

The summer, from June to August, is hot and sunny, with rare rainy days and some thunderstorms coming from the Apennines.
At night the temperature drops a lot, but during the day it can be very hot, with highs of 36/37 °C (97/99 °F). During the August 2017 heat wave, the temperature reached 42.8 °C (109 °F).

Best Time

The best times to visit Frosinone are spring and autumn, ie from mid-April to mid-June and from September to early October. In June, the weather is often nice, but it can sometimes get hot, especially in the second half of the month.
