Climate chart - Capri
The climate of Capri is Mediterranean, with mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
The island of Capri belongs to the Campanian archipelago and is located in southern Italy, facing the Sorrento peninsula. Other islands of the archipelago are Ischia and Procida, which are further north.
Inside the island there are hills, the highest of which is Monte Solaro, 589 meters (1,932 ft). To the east, the town of Capri is at 150 meters (490 ft) above sea level, while to the west we find Anacapri, which is at 270 meters (885 ft) above sea level.
The rains in Capri are less abundant than in Naples and in the Sorrento peninsula, in fact they are lower than 700 millimeters (27.5 inches) per year.
Winter, from December to February, is mild, and is characterized by sunny periods alternating with rainy periods.
It rarely gets very cold, although there can sometimes be cold, windy, and rainy days, with highs around 6/7 °C (43/45 °F).
Occasionally, it may even snow. Short snowfalls, especially in the upper part of the island (in Anacapri, the highest town on the island, and on Mount Solaro), are not so rare, while it is more difficult to see the snow whiten the beaches. This happened for example in December 2010.
The temperature almost never drops below freezing. In February 2008 it dropped to -0.4 °C (31.3 °F), while in December 2014 it dropped to -0.6 °C (30.9 °F).

Capri

Summer, from June to August, is hot and sunny. The rains are very rare, but we can not exclude some thunderstorms every so often.
Typically, the air is humid, but the sea breeze blows, relieving the heat.
Under the influence of the scirocco, the south wind from Africa, there can be hot days, with highs of 35 °C (95 °F) or more.

Best Time

The best times to visit Capri are spring and autumn, ie from mid-April to mid-June and from September to early October.
The best months for a beach holiday are July and August. In June, the days are long and the weather is often good, but the sea is still a bit cool. You can still go in September, in fact the sea is still quite warm, but the days get shorter and the first waves of bad weather can occur, especially in the second half of the month.
