Climate chart - Tel Aviv
The climate of Tel Aviv is Mediterranean, with very mild, rainy winters and hot, sunny summers.
Tel Aviv-Yafo is a city located in western Israel (with 475,000 inhabitants, it is the second in the country), on the Mediterranean coast, and at 32 degrees north latitude.
Nearby are cities such as Rishon LeZion, Petah Tikva and Bnei Brak. The metropolitan area, called Gush Dan, which also includes cities such as Ashdod and Netanya, reaches about 4 million inhabitants.

Precipitation is not abundant, since it amounts to 535 millimeters (21 inches) per year, however, it is concentrated from November to March, a period during which it can be abundant. In the warm season, it almost never rains for a long period, from May to September.

Winter, from December to February, is very mild, with an average January temperature of around 13 °C (55.5 °F). There are sunny periods, however, there are also periods of bad weather, with wind, rain and thunderstorms.
Sometimes there can be somewhat cold periods, with lows close to freezing and highs of 10/12 °C (50/54 °F). At Ben Gurion Airport, the coldest record is -2 °C, set in March 1973. In February 1992, there was a day with a maximum of 7 °C (44.5 °F).
Snow in Tel Aviv is extremely rare. The only snowfall with accumulation that is remembered is that of February 1950, when 20 cm (8 in) of snow fell.

Summer, from June to September, is hot, muggy and sunny. The average temperature in August, the hottest month, is 27.5 °C (81.5 °F). The humidity is high, although the breeze from the sea provides some relief. Rainfall is very rare, especially in July and August, when it basically never rains.
There can be very hot and muggy periods, with highs of 34/35 °C (93/95 °F), during which the combination of humidity and temperature makes the heat unpleasant. In August 2021, the average high was 34.2 °C (93.6 °F)).
Also, there can sometimes be heatwaves from the deserts of Egypt, but these are more likely in spring, and a little less so in autumn, during which the temperature can reach or exceed 40 °C (104 °F). In these cases, however, the humidity decreases considerably. The heat record is 43.8 °C (110.8 °F), set in early June 2023.

In summer, the sea in Tel Aviv is pleasantly warm and allows for long swims, especially from July to September.
